Jemsky User Guide — bank PDF to Excel, CSV, Tally XML & Party Ledger Masters

The Jemsky User Guide is the official step-by-step documentation for converting Indian bank statement PDFs to Excel, CSV, and Tally XML, including Tally Party Ledger Masters (Master.json / Master.xml), Import to Tally — ledger suggest, Saved Mapping Rules, and Import → Transactions in TallyPrime or Tally.ERP 9.

Audience: chartered accountants, tax consultants, accountants, and business owners in India who need bank-wise PDF conversion with zero customer statement retention and optional per-row party ledgers.

What you need before starting

Supported: native text PDFs, scanned statements with legible tables, password-protected PDFs when you know the password, multi-page files, Excel/CSV/Tally XML exports.

Not supported: photos without table borders, encrypted PDFs without the password, invoices/receipts, legacy XLS 97-2003 output.

Quick start

  1. Sign in and open the converter workspace.
  2. Upload the bank statement PDF (drag-and-drop or Browse PDF). Password unlock happens in RAM only.
  3. Leave Auto Detect on, or pick the bank if you already know the layout.
  4. Process the statement. Jemsky runs the matching bank plugin.
  5. Review Opening + Deposits − Withdrawals = Closing and the per-row running balance.
  6. Download Excel, CSV, and/or Tally XML. Statement bytes are discarded.
  7. Optional: import Tally All Masters and enable ledger suggest before XML export.

Step 1 — Upload

Use the dotted upload box at the top of the converter. Password-protected Yono, BOB World, Varachha, and RNSB mobile PDFs prompt for a password that is never written to logs. Wrong passwords fail closed; they are not stored for retry on the server.

Step 2 — Select bank or Auto Detect

Auto Detect reads header signatures and IFSC prefixes (SBIN, HDFC, ICIC, UTIB, KKBK, BARB0, YESB0, IDFB0, IBKL, IDIB0, CBIN0, DCBL0, RNSB0000, SRCB, GSCB0AMR007, and others). Manual select is available when a client’s letterhead is unusual. Bank directory: supported banks.

Step 3 — Process and review

After extraction, Jemsky shows transactions with date, cheque/ref, narration, withdrawal, deposit, and balance. The financial audit score flags dropped pages and mis-typed amounts. Do not export Tally XML until the closing balance matches the PDF.

Tally Party Ledger Masters

In TallyPrime open Export → Masters, choose All Masters, save as Master.xml or Master.json. Upload that file at Tally Party Ledger Masters. Jemsky stores party ledger names and mapping rules you choose — not bank statement PDF bytes.

On the converter, enable Import to Tally — ledger suggest. Matching order is RULE (saved narration pattern) → HEURISTIC → FUZZY → Suspense A/c. Example: UPI/ZOMATO ORDER maps by RULE to Zomato India Pvt Ltd; ATM WDL SURAT RING ROAD may stay Suspense until you fix it once.

Saved Mapping Rules

A Saved Mapping Rule is a narration substring (ZOMATO, AMZN, a vendor IFSC pattern) bound to one ledger. Rules run first every month so recurring UPI/NEFT vendors stop landing in Suspense. Deleting a rule does not delete the Tally master; it only stops auto-matching that pattern.

Import XML into TallyPrime

Download Tally XML after conversion. In TallyPrime: Import → Transactions → select the file. Withdrawals become Payment vouchers; deposits become Receipt vouchers. Official Tally product documentation lives at tallysolutions.com. Jemsky does not replace Tally; it prepares the XML.

Privacy while you follow this guide

Bank statement PDFs are parsed in volatile server memory and discarded after conversion. Optional Tally Party Ledger Masters store only ledger names and rules. See Security and Privacy Policy.
